We’re beyond thrilled to announce that The Golden Bark Foundation has been selected as a 2025–2026 Grey Muzzle Grant Recipient!

Out of 450 applicants, only 119 organizations were awarded—and we’re honored to be one of them! Even more exciting: we received the full amount we requested to expand our senior dog dental care program. 🦷💛

Dental care is one of the most expensive aspects of senior dog vetting—and since about 80% of the dogs we take in need cleanings, this grant is a game-changer. It will allow us to provide dental procedures for 9 senior dogs!

This moment is extra special because three of our dedicated board members worked hard to submit our application back in March—and now, their efforts will directly change lives.

Thank you to The Grey Muzzle Organization for believing in our mission and for supporting the often-overlooked senior dogs. And thank you to the incredible community of donors who fund this amazing organization—this grant cycle alone, Grey Muzzle awarded over $1.57 million in grants to rescues, shelters, and nonprofits across 33 states, plus Puerto Rico, France, and Nepal.

Together, with Grey Muzzle and 118 other organizations, we’re making a difference for senior dogs everywhere!

Our Mission

The Golden Bark Foundation is dedicated to rescuing and advocating for at-risk senior dogs, fulfilling their immediate needs and sending them off to a love-filled retirement home.

We focus on rescuing senior dogs because they are often forgotten and cast aside at the point in their lives when they need the most care. When they end up in shelters, people prefer to adopt younger dogs that require less care and maintenance with fuller lives ahead. We plan to rescue and find homes for these senior dogs. They deserve to know love in the latter portions of their lives.

Every dog Deserves a loving home to live out their golden years, no matter how many days, months or years they have left

HOW WE OPERATE:

We are a foster-based rescue in Utah with a foster network from Weber County to Toole County. Our fosters provide dogs loving homes until their retirement homes are found. All of the dogs needs are covered by the foundation during their stay in our rescue program.

Once a dog is in our care, its medical needs are immediately assessed and taken care of. A complete senior workup is done for each dog soon after they enter GBF. Some dogs will be deemed hospice after their medical diagnostics. Those dogs will live under our care for the remainder of their life.

Once a dog's medical needs are met, they are made available for adoption and ready for their loving retirement home.

We are animals' voices. We will provide compassion, love, and patience to each dog that comes through our rescue, whether the dog has months, days or years. Every dog deserves a loving home to live out their golden years.
